Many SME organisations still do not have a system to backup this critical business data or remove the backup files they do have from the business premises each night. Worryingly this equates to only a third of businesses storing their backups off site (rising even higher to a half with larger companies). Companies that have suffered a computer theft have also lost their backups as well because they were stored next to the stolen computers.

It takes approximately 20 days to re-enter in just 20Mb (megabyte) of sales and accounting data assuming you have the information to re-type. The cost of this alone is sometimes a serious threat to the survival of the business.
